MONROE, La. – The Trojans bounced back and found themselves back in the win column after a dominating 108–82 win over ULM Saturday afternoon from Fant-Ewig Coliseum to sweep the season series from the Warhawks.
The win marks the 18th straight game in which the Trojans have scored more than 75 points, while Troy continues to find success on the road, winning 11 of their last 12 Sun Belt Conference road games.
With 108 points, it was the fourth time this season the Trojans (16-9, 11-3) have surpassed the century mark and are now 3-1 on the season when scoring 100 or more points. The 108 points tied for the third most scored by a Trojan team against a Sun Belt opponent and the most since 2016 when Troy put up 112 against Texas State. In 2014 111 points were scored against Georgia Southern.
A pair of doubles-doubles led the Trojans, as Tai'Sheka Porchia and Ja'Mia Hollings each had double-digit points and rebounds. Porchia had a game-high 22 points with 10 rebounds, while Hollings finished with 14 and 10 rebounds. In total, 12 Trojans recorded a basket as Mary Delgado finished one point off her season high after recording 11 points. Makayia Hallmon and Amber Leggett also all finished in double figures.
The Warhawks were led by Emma Merriweather, who finished with 17 points and a game-high 20 rebounds. ULM turned it over 22 times, which Troy used to score 28 points. The Trojans themselves did a good job holding onto the basketball as they finished the game with eight turnovers.
ULM led for one minute and 11 seconds in the game, coming early in the first quarter. The Trojans would take an 8-7 lead thanks to a Porchia jumper and never looked back. The first quarter saw 23 free throws between the two teams where Troy would finish shooting 82 percent from the line going 27-33, while the Warhawks went 18-28.
Troy scored 13 straight points in the first quarter to open the game out and not allow ULM ever to get close again. The defense was put on display early, and they would finish with 15 steals.
Troy led by as much as 34 points in the fourth quarter despite being 3-15 from the three-point line but pushed the pace scoring 26 fast break points to help spur the offense.
The Trojans will return to the friendly confines of Trojan Arena to take on Coastal Carolina on Thursday, February 16, at 6 p.m.
