Troy Opens 2023-24 Indoor Track and Field Season Strong

BIRMINGHAM, Ala- Troy Track and Field opened 2023-24 indoor track and field season strong with its first triple podium of the season and place in the top ten across five other events at the BSC Icebreaker Friday afternoon. Â
The women's shot-put crew landed the first triple podium of the indoor season, with Joy Edwards leading the way with a throw of 13.44m. Edwards was followed by her fellow Trojans Abby Grosinske (2) and Leah Kennedy (3), who each threw a 13.16 and 12.68m respectively. Â
The Trojans also saw success in the weight throw, with Kennedy finishing fourth with a throw of 15.79m. Grosinske, Brook Burns and Narissa Clay followed with her with a fifth, sixth and seventh place finish. Â
Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente set a personal best in the high jumps at 1.60m, which earned her fourth place at the meet. Â
Jordan Bailey also grabbed fourth place in the triple jump event with a jump of 11.60m. The Trojans rounded out the top ten, with Catherine Forbes in ninth place and Camryn Pettus in tenth place. Â
Kasia Cooper crossed the finish line with a 56.79, which landed her second-place finish in the women's 400m. Meanwhile, in the women's 60m, Shanyah Washington led the way for Troy with a time of 7.76, which placed her seventh. Â
Up Next: The Trojans return to action on January 12, where they will return to Birmingham to compete at the UAB Blazer Invitational. Â
