Troy Opens 2023-24 Indoor Track and Field Season Strong

BIRMINGHAM, Ala- Troy Track and Field opened 2023-24 indoor track and field season strong with its first triple podium of the season and place in the top ten across five other events at the BSC Icebreaker Friday afternoon.
The women's shot-put crew landed the first triple podium of the indoor season, with Joy Edwards leading the way with a throw of 13.44m. Edwards was followed by her fellow Trojans Abby Grosinske (2) and Leah Kennedy (3), who each threw a 13.16 and 12.68m respectively.
The Trojans also saw success in the weight throw, with Kennedy finishing fourth with a throw of 15.79m. Grosinske, Brook Burns and Narissa Clay followed with her with a fifth, sixth and seventh place finish.
Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente set a personal best in the high jumps at 1.60m, which earned her fourth place at the meet.
Jordan Bailey also grabbed fourth place in the triple jump event with a jump of 11.60m. The Trojans rounded out the top ten, with Catherine Forbes in ninth place and Camryn Pettus in tenth place.
Kasia Cooper crossed the finish line with a 56.79, which landed her second-place finish in the women's 400m. Meanwhile, in the women's 60m, Shanyah Washington led the way for Troy with a time of 7.76, which placed her seventh.
Up Next: The Trojans return to action on January 12, where they will return to Birmingham to compete at the UAB Blazer Invitational.
