Troy Women’s Tennis Has Impressive Second Day at Stetson Invite

DELAND, Fla. – The Troy women's tennis team had an impressive second day at the Stetson Invite, as they went 6-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action.
The Trojans faced off against players from FAMU and Bethune-Cookman.
Valeriia Avdeeva and Leena Metwally opened with a strong 6-2 win over FAMU's Sara Rakim and Veronica Rodriguez. Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Olivia Elliott followed that with a 6-1 win over FAMU's Susan Salinas and Sierra Sandy.
Troy's lone doubles loss came at the hands of Bethune-Cookman's Jalayah Shaw and Janet Imbo Nloga, who took down Gabrielle Leslie and Maria Guirguis, 6-4.
In singles, the Trojans went 4-0 against FAMU. Ramadan-Amin defeated Rakim, 6-4, 6-1. Guirguis defeated Rodriguez, 6-3, 7-6 (4). Avdeeva defeated Sandy, 7-6 (2), 6-1. Metwally defeated Salinas, 6-0, 6-1.
Against Bethune-Cookman, Troy went 2-0. Leslie continued her strong singles play this fall with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Shaw. Elliott defeated Imbo Nloga, 6-0, 6-1.
Troy wraps up its fall season on Sunday, as they take on Kennesaw State on Sunday morning at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
