TROY, Ala. – The indoor track and field get underway tomorrow, December 1, as the Trojans head to the BSC Icebreaker hosted by Birmingham Southern College.
This is the third consecutive year that Troy will participate in the BCS Challenge. In 2022, Troy found much success in the meet, racking up 10 top-five finishes across eight events.
Biniosa Ezukuse grabbed the only first-place finish for the Trojans in the women's weight throw with a throw of 16.53 meters. She also placed second in the shot put with a throw of 14.13-meters.
Ezukuse will look to defend her title in the women's weight throw this year. Abby Grosinske and Leak Kennedy – who both had top-10 finishes in the weight throw last year – will also compete alongside Ezukuse.
Shinyah Washington recorded a second-place finish in the 60 meters with a 7.65 time - her best place of the indoor season. She also nabbed an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters with a 25.63. Washington will look to build off last year's success in as she will compete in both events again.
Troy athletes will compete in 10 total events, including the women's 60m, 200m, 400m, 60m hurdles, 4x400 relay, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put and weight throw.
This will be the only meet for the Trojans in the month of December, as they won't compete again until the UAB Blazer Invitational on Jan. 12.
