Troy Soccer Drops 2-1 Battle to Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Troy women's soccer team fell to Arkansas State 2-1 on Thursday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Park.
Troy (5-7-1, 0-4-1 SBC) opened the scoring in the 26th minute as Carley White found the back of the net from just outside the box. White received a pass before spinning around and firing the ball past the goalkeeper into the top right corner of the net for her second goal of the year. Dolce Villaflor and Shyanne Scharbrough each grabbed an assist.
Two minutes later, Arkansas State (4-5-2. 2-2-1 SBC) leveled the score off a goal from Darby Stotts. McKenzie Robinson and Sarah Strong added the assists.
The Trojans had a few good looks in the second half, including a shot from Alisa Detlefsen from far out that ringed off the crossbar in the 53rd minute.
Ultimately, the Red Wolves jumped ahead in the 64th minute on a Summit Dann goal – assisted by Tindra Cederholm – to grab the lead once and for all.
The Troy offense finished the afternoon with seven shots, three on target. Une Hebnes Georgsen and Rubie Kelley each played a half in goal for the Trojans, with Georgsen starting the game and Kelley playing the second half.
Georgsen and Kelley each made two saves on three shots and gave up a goal.
Olivia Simpson picked up her first yellow card of the season in the 67th minute. The Arkansas State bench received a yellow card in the 85th minute.

"The conditions were tough to play in this afternoon. But it's a repeat of the last three losses. We score first and lose 2-1."
