FOLEY, Ala. – The Troy cross country program wrapped up the Sun Belt Championships in Foley, Ala. Saturday morning with a ninth place finish for the men and 13th for the women.
"I was proud of the efforts put forth by the team today," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "We had some poorly timed injuries this week that prevented several folks from being at 100 percent, but everyone gave all they had today. As a coach, I can't ask for more than that. With that said, no one is happy with our results. This is a very young team that will continue to grow and progress as a unit. The future is bright."
Four Trojans managed top 50 finishes on the men's side, with Keith Warner pacing the field for the fifth straight meet, finishing 44th at 28:35.40. Zane McPeters followed directly behind after starting the race in 66th. The freshman rallied to jump 21 spots to 45th in the final 6k. Caden Blackman and Tyler Baker closed out the top 50 finishes when they stuck around the 50th position throughout the event.
Dylan Nelson (29:08.10), Gavan Baxley (29:48.30) and Andrew Bradshaw (32:39.00) rounded out the Trojans, finishing in 53rd, 56th and 58th, respectively, for an average time of 28:48.72 in the 8k.
