Troy Soccer Closes Out Regular Season at Georgia Southern

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team heads to Statesboro, Ga., to face off against Georgia Southern in its season finale on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on TroyTrojans.com.
Troy (6-9-2, 1-6-2 SBC) is coming off its first conference win of the season on Sunday, when it defeated Louisiana 1-0 at home on Senior Day. Forward Gabrielle Chartier scored the game-winning goal in the 23rd minute off a nice cross from Riley Rojahn, who picked up the assist.
Georgia Southern (11-5-0, 6-3-0 SBC) sits second in the Sun Belt Conference standings and beat James Madison 2-1 on the road on Sunday. The Eagles are currently riding a six-game winning streak.
The Numbers
The Trojans win on Sunday snapped a 10-game winless streak (eight losses, two draws).
Chartier continues to pave the way for the Troy offense, leading the team in both goals (7) and points (15). A senior, Chariter entered her fourth year with the Trojans in 2023 with zero career goals and only five career points.
Rubie Kelley put together her fourth shutout of the season on Sunday. She faced zero shots on goal as the Troy defense had its best game of the season.
That defense has allowed a 39.2 percent shot on goal rate and is led by Olivia Simpson and Hallie Field. Field leads the team in minutes played at 1,481 with Simpson just behind her at 1,476.

•Troy continues to find much of its offensive pressure coming off corner kicks this season, taking 113 on the season. They are averaging 6.64 per game which is tied for 24th in the nation.
• The Troy offense has been more productive in the second half of games this season, scoring 12 goals in the final 45 minutes compared to seven goals in the first 45 minutes.
• Despite more goal production in the second half, the Trojan defense has also surrendered more goals in the final 45 minutes. They have allowed 13 goals in the first half compared to 10 in the first half.
• Troy has taken 190 shots this season (99 in the first half, 91 in the second half). The Trojan's defense has allowed opponents to take 199 shots this season, including 84 in the first half and 115 in the second half.
