Troy Men’s Tennis Wraps Play at ITA Southern Regional

AUBURN, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team continued its strong fall season with 12 singles victories and a pair of doubles teams advancing to the round of 32 at the ITA Southern Regional hosted by Auburn this weekend.

Carles Anton and Mario Martinez Serrano both advanced to the second round of the main draw in singles, with Anton defeating Isac Strromberg from Ole Miss in the opening round. Martinez Serrano drew a first round bye due to his regional ranking and dropped a tough three-set battle to LSU's Julien Penzlin before knocking off another LSU foe in straight sets in the main draw consolation bracket.

Noah Martens, Yeray Andres Pastor and Vicente Arbelaez all reached the round of 32 in the qualifying draw, while Benjamin Ambrosio picked up a victory over Tulane in Saturday's consolation round.

In doubles, Anton and Martinez Serrano knocked off a pair from Nicholls State in the opening round and now get the ninth-seeded duo from Alabama, while Luciano Alcocer and Nicolas Simkin defeated a Samford duo to reach the round of 32.

Next up for the Trojans in the ITA Future in Tallahassee, Fla., in two weeks.
