Men's Golf Wraps Play at USF Invitational

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The Troy men's golf team wrapped play at the USF Invitational on Tuesday, shooting a 6-over 294 as a team en route to a tie for 11th place paced by freshman Pablo Gracia's 17th individual finish.
Gracia finished 2-under for the week, the lowest 54-hole effort by a Trojan golfer this season, after opening with a 3-under 69 in the first round. The top-20 finish was his second straight, and he's now finished in the top two of Troy finishers in all three events this year.
Troy moved up a spot into a tie for 11th place with its effort on Tuesday. USF and Stetson tied for the team title at 16-under par, while Lamar, Louisiana and Davidson rounded out the top five.
Will Simpson fired Troy's best round of the day as he shot even-par thanks to three birdies, while Lee Poppell added a 2-over 74, Jake Springer shot 75 and Brantley Scott closed out the week with a 77.
Springer finished five shots clear of Gracia in a tie for 26th place, with Scott finishing tied for 51st and Poppell in a tie for 63rd along with Simpson.
The Trojans have a quick turnaround as they travel to Little Rock, Ark., and the Chenal Country Club for the Little Rock Invitational next week.
