Troy Men’s Basketball Hosts Old Dominion Thursday; Dollar Day & Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Games on Tap This Week

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball team returns home Thursday to play host to Old Dominion in its Sun Belt Conference home opener. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in Trojan Arena in the first of two home games this week for Scott Cross' club.
Thursday's game will be Dollar Day in Trojan Arena with $1 general admission tickets, soft drinks and popcorn. Fans wishing can also purchase discounted reserved seats ($5) and courtside seats ($25) for the game. Troy's cheerleaders will also perform at halftime as they put the finishing touches on their routine for Nationals in two weeks.
Saturday's matchup with Arkansas State is Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day, with all season ticket holders able to receive four complimentary tickets to the game by contacting the ticket office at 334-670-3681 or thead164781@troy.edu

2022 closed out with the Trojans on top over the defending Sun Belt regular season champions, Texas State, 55-52.
Troy locked the Bobcats up defensively in the final 10 minutes of the ballgame, allowing the opposition to shoot 3-of-13 from the field.
After Mason Harrell went inside for the layup to extend the Bobcat lead to four, 44-40, Zay Williams stole the momentum with a steal on the other end. Christyon Eugene slid the pass down low to Williams, which opened an 8-0 run with 9:21 remaining.
The 8-0 The run lasted five minutes, with Aamer Muhammad knocking down two free throws along with Kieffer Punter and Eugene having multiple fastbreak points to secure Troy's first conference win.

Thursday's matchup pits the Trojans and Monarchs for the first time in program history in ODU's Sun Belt return. ODU is on fire lately, winning five of its last six games, with the team's lone loss coming against Arkansas State to open conference play, 60-57.
The Monarchs redeemed themselves with their first Sun Belt Conference victory in 32 years, 70-66, over Louisiana. Old Dominion had three players come off the bench (Chaunce Jenkins – 12, Faizon Fields – 11, D'Angelo Stines – 11) and produce double figures in the victory, accounting for 48.5 percent of the points scored (34-of-70).
Perimeter efficiency has defined the Monarch's season to this point, ranking fourth in both 3-point percent (34.7 percent) and 3-point percentage defense (31 percent) despite averaging an SBC-13th-best five 3-pointers per game.
Jenkins comes off the bench to average the second-most points on the ODU roster with 13 points on 50.8 percent shooting. He also owns the 3-point line with a team-high 48.3 percent from deep. ODU's leading scorer with 13.4 points is senior guard Tyreek Scott-Grayson, who's scored double figures in the past three games, including a season-high 30 over George Mason.
