Troy Returns to Mobile to Face South Alabama

TROY, Ala. – After opening conference play with its second nil-nil draw, Troy returns to Mobile, Ala., for a matchup against in-state rival South Alabama on Thursday at 7 p.m in "The Cage."
Troy (2-3-2, 0-0-1 SBC) looks to end a three-match drought against the Jaguars (4-1-4, 0-0-1 SBC) as both programs are searching for their first conference victory of 2022.
Unbeaten in Conference Play
The Trojans opened their conference schedule on Sunday with the team's second home game of the season against Georgia Southern, with defense being the emphasis on both sides.
In 90 minutes of play, neither team could put one on the scoreboard as the Trojans dominated statistically, outshooting the Eagles 12-7. The first shot on goal was let out by Gabrielle Chartier at the 51:47 mark to no avail as the Eagles' Mikko Michaela grabbed it at the bottom right of the net – Chartier led the team in shots with three.
Nia Wilson and Chartier led one last charge with under two minutes remaining. First, Wilson took her chance at the bottom right of the net while Chartier went top right. Michaela saved both shots to keep the score tied, 0-0, as the final buzzer sounded.

2018 marks the last time Troy ventured into "The Cage" and came out victorious with a 1-0 victory. Since then, Troy has gone winless in three straight against the Jaguars. Last season, the Trojans held strong through the first 29 minutes until Morgan Cross got USA started in the 4-0 win.
Despite the hot 4-0-2 start where the Jaguars outscored their opponents 15-2, the past three matches have seen South Alabama fizzle out, going 0-1-2 with only one goal scored.
Monique Gray leads the Jaguars with a team-high five goals and 11 points – both rank second in the Sun Belt. At goalie, Jaidy Gutierrez Campos has been lights out, leading the way to six shutouts and an SBC second-best, 0.67 goals allowed average.
