Troy Men Finish Seventh, Women 10th After Final Day of SBC Outdoor Track & Field Championship

LAFAYETTE, La.- The Troy track and field team concluded its Sun Belt Championship weekend at the Ragin' Cajuns Track Facility on Saturday, with the men finishing seventh and women in 10th as multiple Trojans claimed podium spots.Â

Edita Sklenska became the first Trojan to claim gold with a first-place finish in the women's 800-meter run. The junior took home her third win of the season in the event with a final time of 2:07.48 for 10 points. Javon Osbourne claimed his second podium finish of the weekend, upgrading to the silver medal in the men's discus event. Osbourne threw to the 54.56-meter mark for his fifth podium finish of the season for discus.

Both sides of the 4x400-meter relay won their respective heat race to place them in contention for the gold. On the men's side, Jordan McCleskey, Chance Armstrong, Reuben Dotson and Alan Johnson brought home a season-best time of 3:13.96, enough for sixth overall. The quartet of Sklenska, Maya Kelly, Vennessa Frank and Alexandria Rankin also hit a season-best time of 3:42.57. The women clinched five points and a fourth-place finish overall.Â

After qualifying for the final in the men's 110-meter hurdles on Friday, Julian Martin-Rogers finished fifth after recording a time of 13.97. Alex Robinson also managed a fifth-place finish for the men's 200m after setting a new personal best at 20.96.Â

Johnson followed his sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a personal best time in the men's 800m. The senior capped off his weekend with a third-place finish for Troy at 1:51.51. Four spots behind him was Saindeley Dorsainvil with a final time of 1:55.21 for seventh, pushing Troy's point total to eight in the event.Â

Troy returns to action on May 25 with the NCAA East Preliminary event for a chance at the NCAA Championships.Â
