LAFAYETTE, La. – Troy Softball fell to Louisiana, 7-1, in game two of the series Saturday at Lamson Park.
Much like Friday, after a quiet opening frame, Louisiana (25-10, 11-3 Sun Belt) struck first in the bottom of the second with a solo shot from Alexa Langeliers.
In the bottom of the third, the Ragin Cajuns tacked on another run with an RBI double off the bat of Maddie Hayden. A two-run bottom of the fourth saw Louisiana take a 4-0 advantage.
However, Taylor McKinney spoiled Kandra Lamb's (7-4) no hitter in the top of the fifth after ripping a one-out single up the middle. A wild pitch moved McKinney into scoring position, but she was left stranded.
Louisiana took a 7-0 lead late in the game after a two-run home run and a wild pitch plated three runs in the bottom of half of the fifth frame.
The Trojans (22-12, 8-6 Sun Belt) evaded the shutout after Kelly Horne smashed a leadoff solo home run in the top of the seventh. McKinney followed with her second hit of the afternoon, a two-out infield single, to keep the rally alive.
After Audra Thompson drew a walk, a pinch-hit strikeout spoiled the comeback efforts.
Leanna Johnson (14-7) suffered the loss for the Trojans, allowing seven runs off seven hits and four walks.
Lamb gave up one hit in her 5.0 innings of work to earn her seventh win of the season.
