LAFAYETTE, La. – Troy Softball fell in the series finale to Louisiana, 10-0, Sunday at Lamson Park.
After the Trojans (22-13, 8-7 Sun Belt) threatened with runners on the corners in the top of the first, Louisiana (26-10, 12-3 Sun Belt) struck first in the bottom of the opening frame when Sophie Piskos knocked in a score with a sacrifice fly.
The Ragin Cajuns tacked on another pair of runs off a walk and two triples to take a 3-0 lead through the first two innings of action.
After a quiet third frame from either side, a throwing error allowed Louisiana to tack on another run in the bottom of the fourth.
Libby Baker (6-4) worked around a one-out single in the bottom of the fifth to hold the Ragin Cajuns scoreless.
However, a leadoff walk and a pair of singles loaded the bases for Louisiana in the bottom of the sixth. A hit by pitch, double and home run added six runs for the Ragin Cajuns to end the game in six innings.
Sam Landry (12-2) picked up the win after scattering just one hit in the top of the first.
Baker suffered the loss for the Trojans after allowing 10 hits, 10 runs and four walks.
