Track and Field Heads to the City of Brotherly Love for Penn Relays

TROY, Ala.- Troy track and field heads to the "City of Brotherly Love" to conclude its regular season at the 126th annual Penn Relays from April 28-30 in Franklin Field.
The Trojans battle 183 collegiate rosters across 28 states and three countries, starting on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the women's hammer throw - Thursday concludes in the men's 10,000-meter at 10 p.m. Friday begins at noon with the women's discus event, wrapping in the men's 4x400-meter at 7 p.m. The women's discus event returns to action to kick off Saturday at 9:30 a.m., with the final event as the men's 4x400-meter championship at 5:45 p.m.

Rolling Through Tuscaloosa
Edita Sklenska was the sole victor for Troy at the Crimson Tide Invitational as the Trojans took on 18 rosters and placed three at the podium.
In the women's 800-meter, Sklenska led from start to finish, setting Troy's quickest time of the season at 2:05.01 - second first-place finish in the event.
On Friday, Lauren Locke was the first Trojan to hit the podium in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. The junior came across the finish line, cutting 38 seconds off her previous best time at 10:52.32 for silver.
Cole Stewart shined in the men's javelin throw for second place. Stewart led through the first two throws, hitting a new personal record of 66.62-meters. Despite losing the lead on the third attempt, Stewart walked away with his fourth podium finish in the event.
Throwing It Back to 2019
Thursday marks the first time the Penn Relays will take place in two years because of the pandemic. Three historic performances in relay events highlighted 2019 for Troy.
The women's 4x400-meter relay saw Niata Alexander, Tiarra Bailey, Madison Kennedy and Precious Ogba break the program record twice in one weekend. The relay initially broke it on opening day at 3:40.15 before doing it again at 3:40.09 on Saturday - team holds top-four times in the record book.
A quartet of Tanner Guest, Maya Kelly, Macki Walsh and Gemma Finch teamed up in the women's distance medley for 14th. The team broke another school record set by themselves earlier that season by 23 seconds at 12:00.14.
The women's shuttle hurdle relay had its program-best time set by Sydney Henderson, JaMeeka Middlebrooks, Michaela Thompson and Alexis Garrett. With a time of 56.82, the team set the standard with a third-place finish.
