Aaliyah Murphy Earns Sun Belt Athlete of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Aaliyah Murphy was selected as the Sun Belt Female Athlete of the Week following a strong showing at Penn Relays.
Murphy ran a blazing 58.71 in the 400m hurdles this past weekend, which is good for the second fastest time in the conference.
"Aaliyah has worked hard this year to get better at her craft," director of track and field / cross country Marc Davis said. "She is starting to really see the fruits of her labor. She has a bright future. I wish her congrats on being the Athlete of the Week!!"
The sophomore from Morristown, N.J. continues to dominate in her second season competing as a Trojan, setting a new program record in her respective event for the second time this season.
Murphy shattered her previous record from last season earlier this year, running 59.17 at the Terry Long FSU Relays. Murphy has been dominant in the event throughout this season, putting together multiple sub-60 second races.
Troy returns to competition this Friday and Saturday at the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt.
