This will be the second consecutive year Troy has taken on an ACC opponent. Last year, the Trojans saw Florida State in a three-game series, winning 3-0 in game two.
Loganville, Ga., native Bay Witcher will get the start against the Yellow Jackets. After a couple of stints coming out of the bullpen, Witcher will make his ninth start of the year. The junior right-handed hurler enters Tuesday's matchup with a 6.50 earned run average and is 3-2 on the season, but Troy is 6-2 in games Witcher starts.
Second baseman Donovan Whibbs now leads the Trojans with a .308 batting average after coming off a weekend series against Arkansas State in which he recorded three RBIs on four hits. Whibbs is one of two Trojans to start in all 38 games thus far.
This year, the Trojans have done well when getting runners into scoring position converting a .320 clip. Their opponents haven't had as good of luck as Troy pitchers are holding opponents to only a .236 average with runners in scoring position.
After being ranked earlier in the year, Georgia Tech enters Tuesday's game 25-16 on the year. The Yellow Jackets are 1-1 against Sun Belt teams this year, with both games coming against Georgia State.
Georgia Tech's .323 team batting average leads the ACC conference; however, a 6.40 team earned run average puts them second to last in the league.
