Troy Rolls into Tuscaloosa for Crimson Tide Invitational

TROY, Ala.- The Troy track and field team ventures north to Tuscaloosa to battle 18 rosters in the Crimson Tide Invitational from April 22-23 at Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium.

The meet kicks off on Friday with the hammer throw for the women at 2 p.m. with the day concluding in the men's 5000-meter at 9:35 p.m. Saturday opens at 9 a.m. with the discus throw as the meet finishes in the men's 4x400-meter relays at 6:30 p.m.

Taking it To the Tigers
Despite struggling on the first day of the War Eagle Invitational, the Trojans bounced back on the second day with five podium finishes.Â

The men's 4x100-meter relay was the only non-individual event to place in the top three at third. Kaleb Allen-Mcduffie, Jaleel Gilbert, Quinest Bishop and Alex Robinson joined together to finish at 40.75 for the event - the best time for a relay this season.

Maja Kuessner also had her best mark in the women's high jump, finishing third with a distance of 1.72-meters. Edita Sklenska followed suit for the women in the 800-meter run. The junior placed third with a season-best time of 2:07.07.

Javon Osbourne and Julian Martin-Rogers continued their dominance this season. Osbourne took home his fifth podium finish of second in the men's discus throw, tossing to the 55.64-meter mark - broke the Troy program record. Martin-Rogers took home bronze for his third podium finish in the event this season with a time of 14.36.

Taking It Back to 2021
Troy returns to Tuscaloosa for the second straight year after impressive performances from current Trojans Blake Vaughn, Jordan McCleskey and Gilbert.

Gilbert joined former Trojans Alex Grays, Mikhail Carvalho and Matthew Likely in the men's 4x400-meter relay for a third-place finish. The team topped off with their best finish of the season at that point at 40.24.Â

McCleskey finished ninth in the men's 400-meter run with a season-best performance of 48.76 before joining as the final leg in the 4x400-meter for second at 3:11.83. Vaughn finished the day for the Trojans with his season-best time in the men's 1500-meter, coming across the stripe at 4:03.82.
