Troy Softball Welcomes UT Arlington

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Softball team looks to keep its conference hot streak alive in a three-game series against UT Arlington starting Friday at the Troy Softball Complex.

The Trojans (25-14, 11-7 Sun Belt) enter the weekend ranked third in the league while UTA (20-18, 10-8 Sun Belt) sits two spots behind Troy in fifth.

Troy ace Leanna Johnson continues to make her case for Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year. The junior leads the Sun Belt Conference in ERA (2.07), strikeouts (208) and starts (27). She also ranks second in innings pitched (155.1) and wins (16).

On the offensive side, Kelly Horne leads the league in slugging percentage (.786) and on-base percentage (.579). The junior ranks second in batting average (.398), home runs (10) and walks (38).

Horne is three walks shy of breaking Troy's career walks record, currently held by Bambi Sellars (100).

MARKING THE MAVERICKS:
The Mavericks head to the Troy Softball Complex after suffering an extra-innings loss to Baylor. UTA is just one game behind the Trojans in league standings.

Morgan Rios leads the Mavericks' offensive efforts, batting at a .338 clip with a trio of doubles, five home runs and 23 RBIs.

Inside the circle, Jessica Adams sees the majority of work. The freshman boasts a 3.12 ERA with a team-leading 72 strikeouts over 152.2 innings of work.
