TROY, Ala. – Troy remained undefeated at home following a 4-0 victory over Southern Miss Saturday afternoon at the Lunsford Tennis Complex; the Trojans have now won three of their last four matches overall.
Troy (10-6) swept through the doubles matches with wins on court one and court three and were one game away from a win on court three when they halted play. Vito Llinares and Noah Martens opened with a 6-3 win on court two and Christopher Tasker and Nicolas Simkin clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court one.
Carles Anton improved to 12-4 during the spring with a 7-5, 6-0 win on court two in singles to give the Trojans the 2-0 lead. Martens followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court four to move to 11-4 on the year and Llinares, who also improved to 11-4, clinched the match with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win on court six. The remaining three singles matches went unfinished.
Troy returns to the courts Sunday against Chattanooga; start time is still to be determined due to logistical issues with the match officials. Check TroyTrojans.com for the official time.
