Troy Opens Four-Match Homestand with In-State Rivalry

TROY, Ala. - Troy begins its four-game homestand this weekend at the Lunsford Tennis Complex with a date schedule against South Alabama and Arkansas State.
The Trojans open their weekend on Friday at 2 p.m., taking on USA (15-3, 4-0 SBC) before finishing a Troy tennis doubleheader at noon against the Red Wolves (5-10, 1-4 SBC) on Saturday.
With its return to Lunsford, Troy looks to continue its 3-1 record at home - fifth-best home record in the Sun Belt.
Splitting the Final Road Trip
In the team's final road trip, the Trojans split their series in the Lone Star state after defeating Texas State before being swept by UT-Arlington.
With the match tied, 3-3, Hagar Amin split her first two sets against Sofia Fortuno, 6-3, 4-6. Amin followed it up in the third set with the narrow 7-6 victory that forced the deciding tiebreaker.
In the tiebreaking match, the freshman took the lead early before securing the victory, 4-3, in clutch fashion, 7-5.
The following day in Arlington, things didn't go the Trojans' way, suffering a clean sweep at the hands of UTA, 4-0, ending a two-match win streak.

South Alabama enters Lunsford, having won seven of its last eight matches - only loss came last Saturday against UTA, 4-0.
After sweeping the Bobcats of Texas State, 4-0, the Jaguars enter the match sitting third in the SBC standings after an impressive 40-13 in singles competition and 22-4 in doubles.
Raised by the Wolves
Arkansas State travels to Lunsford for its second of a three-match week. The Red Wolves have lost five of their last six, pending their postponed match against UTA.
Emily Surcey has been the alpha for the Red Wolves in singles competition, leading the team with a 17-10 record. In doubles, the duo of Thea Rice/Nejla Zukic ranks number one for ASU at 16-10.
