"It has been an amazing year in Trojan Arena," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "Beginning with our teams and how competitive and dominant they have been on the court this year, including winning a Sun Belt Championship on the women's side and the men with their best Sun Belt finish since the 2010 season. Everyone knows how great of a venue Trojan Arena is, and to be able to foster an incredible home atmosphere and environment inside Trojan Arena for our men's and women's basketball teams is a credit to our great fans, amazing students and hardworking staff."
Trojan Arena averaged 2,758 fans for Troy's 13 men's game and included three of the top five single-game crowds in arena history and five of the top 10. Crowds of more than 4,000 fans packed the Arena for games against South Alabama (4,546), Texas State (4,438) and Little Rock (4,128).
The season average sets a new Trojan Arena record on the men's side, besting the 2020 campaign by more than 200 fans per game.
"We were very, very blessed to play in beautiful Trojan Arena in front of some of the best fans in the country," men's head coach Scott Cross said. "Trojan Arena was rocking all season long, and we are extremely thankful to all our loyal fans that came out to support us in huge numbers this season.
"The student support was as good as I have ever seen, and they did a great job of bringing the energy every single game. I am already looking forward to breaking attendance records again next year for both men's and women's basketball. Trojan Nation: Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!"
The three highest attended women's games in Trojan Arena history came this past season. An Arena record – for the women – 2,784 fans packed in for Troy's season opener against Talladega, while 2,724 fans watched Troy defeat South Alabama, 84-52, and 2,579 fans attended Troy's win over Florida A&M.
Troy averaged 1,622 fans for the home season in which they posted a 13-1 mark inside Trojan Arena; Chanda Rigby's squad has posted a 59-9 record at home over the past five seasons. Troy's per-game average was 22 percent greater than Little Rock, which was second in the league this season.
"The outpouring of support from our fans in Trojan Arena this year has made all the difference. It was so fun to play in front of crowds of true Trojan fans," Rigby said. "I appreciate all that our Athletics Department did this season to get the word out about our games and to make the experience inside of Trojan Arena a great one."
Both teams earned a first round bye in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, which opens play Wednesday in Pensacola. The Troy women take on the winner between Arkansas State and Coastal Carolina on Friday at 11:30 a.m., while the Troy men await the winner of Little Rock and South Alabama on Saturday at 2 p.m.
