Troy Lands Transfer Guard Jacoi Hutchinson

TROY, Ala. – Jacoi Hutchinson has signed with Troy men's basketball, head coach Adam Howard announced on Thursday.
Hutchinson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Laurel, Md., spent the 2025-26 season at Longwood, where he appeared in and started 31 games. Averaging 12.3 points per game, Hutchinson shot 43.7 percent from the field while adding 3.3 rebounds ,3.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest.
"Jacoi is a veteran guard that we are excited to welcome to Troy," said Howard. "He brings a mature approach and a competitive spirit that will translate from day one. He's a proven scorer and playmaker that will contribute immediately in a big way for our program."
Hutchinson reached double figures in 23 games this past season, highlighted by a 36-point performance at Charleston Southern on Feb. 21. He finished the game a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line and 12-for-22 from the field. His 36 points marked the most by a Longwood player since 2014.
A consistent presence at the line all season, Hutchinson led the Big South in free throw percentage at 86.2 percent.
The rising senior spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at George Washington. As a freshman, Hutchinson averaged 7.3 points and 2.3 assists while making 10 starts across 32 appearances. He also shot 39.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Hutchinson recorded the first 20-point game of his career during his sophomore season with the Revolutionaries, posting 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals against American.
A consensus three-star recruit and top-175 player nationally, Hutchinson attended DeMatha Catholic before transferring to IMG Academy for his final two years. At DeMatha, he helped lead the program to the 2019 WCAC Championship.
He was named a Capital Classic All-Star and a McDonald's All-American nominee in 2023.
Hutchinson joins transfer Robert Davis Jr., incoming freshmen Romain Valakou and Tucker Wadsworth, and returners Kerrington Kiel, Evan Griffin, Emmanuel Clarton, and Hikaru Awata on the 2026–27 roster.
