Trojans Open Sun Belt Play Against Louisiana

TROY, Ala. – Troy is set to open Sun Belt Conference play as it hosts Louisiana for a three-game series beginning Friday at Riddle-Pace Field. The first pitch in the series opener between the Trojans and Ragin' Cajuns is set for 6 p.m.
After coming off a sweep of the Indiana Hoosiers, Troy looks to keep their five-game win streak going. Troy is 9-1 at home this season and will look to improve that record over the weekend in game four of a seven-game home stand.

This will be the 57th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Louisiana holding a 44-26 advantage. The Trojans were able to take one game of their series last year from the Ragin' Cajuns after winning 6-5.
Strong pitching pushed the Trojans past Indiana, and Troy will turn to Garret Gainous to lead the charge again. In his last outing, Gainous earned his second win in his strongest performance of the season. Going 6.0 innings pitched, Gainous held the Hoosiers to two hits with three walks and struck out a season-high nine batters. Brady Fuller will also be looking for his third win of the season in game two of the series followed by Bay Witcher on Sunday.
Louisiana enters the weekend 9-7 on the season. As a team the Ragin' Cajuns' rank last in the Sun Belt Conference in batting average only hitting at a .246 clip. Tommy Ray gets the start on Friday and enters the game with a 6.32 earned run average. Brandon Talley and Jeff Wilson will follow on Saturday and Sunday.
