TROY, Ala. — Troy baseball continues its fall exhibition slate on Saturday, squaring off against Florida at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, Florida. The matchup will be held at the home of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. CT.
Troy and Florida last squared off earlier this year in the NCAA Tournament, where the Trojans defeated the Gators in back-to-back games to claim the Gainesville Regional title.
Last weekend, the Trojans hosted Samford for an exhibition doubleheader split into a nine-inning and a seven-inning contest at Riddle-Pace Field . Troy dominated the opening game, answering an early 2-0 deficit with 20 unanswered runs . The Trojans launched four home runs in game one, sparked by a six-run second inning that featured a three-run shot from Layne Akers — his second of the fall — followed by another three-run blast from Cooper Williams .
First-year standouts Hudson Reed and Kam Jenkins launched back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning . Later in the contest, Caden Reeves delivered a powerhouse performance, hitting his first homer with a two-run shot in the seventh before capping off game one with a grand slam an inning later.
Troy grabbed an early 2-0 lead in game two, but Samford stormed back to take command with an 8-2 advantage down the stretch . The Trojans refused to go quietly, rallying in the sixth frame as Adam Leininger launched Troy's seventh home run of the day to knot the score at eight . Troy kept the momentum going in the final inning, filling the bases with no outs before Zaid Diaz came through in the clutch with a walk-off single to center field .
On the mound, Trojan pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts against just three walks across the two contests against the Bulldogs, headlined by a 10-strikeout, zero-walk performance in game one. Through three exhibition games this fall, Troy's pitching staff has racked up 26 strikeouts while surrendering only five walks.
There will be no live stream or video coverage for Saturday's exhibition contest . Fans can stay up to date on all the action by following Troy Baseball on X and Instagram for live in-game updates and coverage.
