JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Troy rallied from a 3-0 deficit to knockoff in-state rival Jacksonville State, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon at the JSU Tennis Courts. Manuel Bernard sealed the victory for the Trojans with a three-set victory on court five.

Troy (9-6) is coming off a run of playing top-ranked teams, including a narrow 4-3 loss at No. 24 Florida State this past Friday. The win over the Gamecocks (4-4) pulled the Trojans even on the road this season (4-4), with eight of Troy's 15 dual matches coming as true road matches and four others on neutral courts.

Bernard dropped the first set, 6-2, in his clinching match but stormed back to win the second set, 6-4, before cruising to a 6-1 win in the third and deciding set.

Jacksonville State won two of the three doubles matches and picked up wins on courts two and six in singles to grab the 3-0 lead. However, Pelayo Antuna started Troy's comeback with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court one and Nicolas Simkin earned a three-set win on court three, 5-7, 6-2, 2-0 (ret). Antuna, who won his third straight singles match, moved to 8-4 this spring in singles, including an 8-3 mark on the top court.

Noah Martens tied the match with a 6-2, 7-6 (5) victory on court four to set up Bernard's heroics to clinch the match in Troy's favor. Antuna and Carles Anton picked up Troy's lone doubles win with a 6-4 decision on court three.

Troy opens a three-match homestand this weekend against Southern Miss on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Chattanooga at 12 p.m. on Sunday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
