TROY, Ala. – The Troy baseball team (4-0) will hit the road for the first time in the 2022 season for a mid-week contest against in-state foe Auburn (2-1) on Wednesday, February 23, from Plainsman Park in Auburn, Ala. at 5 p.m.

This will kick off a five-game road trip for the Trojans, which includes travel to Jacksonville, Fla., and Tuscaloosa, Ala.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2018, when the Tigers visited Troy, and the Trojans were able to pick up the win 9-5.

After a successful weekend sweep of Holy Cross, the Trojans will look to keep the momentum going as they turn to freshman Beau Fletcher, who will start his first career game against the Auburn Tigers. Fletcher did not play for the Trojans in 2021 and was redshirted.

Fletcher made his first appearance for the Trojans in relief on February 20, 2022, against Holy Cross. He went 1.2 innings giving up a hit and a run while striking out two.

Notable:

In the season's first series, the Trojans outscored Holly Cross 44-8 across four games. The Trojans' 23 runs in game two were their most since a 26-run outburst in 2012 against Bethune-Cookman, and Troy's 23 hits were the most since game two of the 2014 season. In addition, Troy posted a crooked number in five different innings. Troy's 54 hits so far are third in the country.
The Trojans made it five straight wins to open the season with their 2-1 victory over Holly Cross. The Trojans would sweep the Crusaders for their second opening weekend sweep in the past three years.
In the opening weekend against Holy Cross, the Trojans saw three pitchers earn their first career wins, as Grayson Stewart, Brady Fuller, and Logan Ross all picked up wins in their debuts for Troy.
Trojans have 54 hits on the season which ranks third in the entire country. Their .380 batting average ranks 11th nationally and their 2.00 earned run average is among the top 20 in the nation. Troys is also one of eight teams in the country to not commit an error this season.
