Troy Softball to Host Troy Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Troy Softball looks to ride its five-game hot streak into the squad's second home tournament of the season, the Troy Invitational, starting Friday at the Troy Softball Complex.

After downing in-state foe UAB in extra innings, the Trojans (5-1) welcome in Nicholls State, Eastern Kentucky and Ole Miss to the Troy Softball Complex for the Troy Invitational.

The Trojans will take the field for the first time on Friday at 3 p.m. against Nicholls State.

Audra Thompson was Troy's hero on Wednesday after smashing the two-run double in the top of the eighth to secure the Trojan victory.

Leanna Johnson (3-0) leads the Troy pitching staff with a 1.68 ERA over 25 innings of work. The junior has tallied 35 strikeouts in her four appearances this season.

KNOW YOUR FOES:

Nicholls State (1-5) makes its way into Troy after dropping a tough midweek at conference foe Louisiana, 10-2. The Colonels lone victory this season came versus Alabama A&M during opening weekend.
Eastern Kentucky (0-5) travels to Troy after falling to Iowa, Wisconsin, Pitt, Penn State and Northwestern at the Northern Lights/Southern Nights Invitational in Leesburg, Florida.
Ole Miss (4-2) heads to the Troy Invitational after picking up wins against Dixie State, Colorado State, Cal State Fullerton and California in the Easton Invitational. The Rebels' two losses came to Oregon and San Diego.
