Roqueta Sitting in Top 10 Following Day One of First Coast Classic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bruna Roqueta sits in the top 10 following Monday's opening two rounds of the First Coast Classic at the Deerwood Country Club. Roqueta's strong start has Troy in fifth place overall and just nine shots back of fourth.
Roqueta, who is coming off the third-best final round in the entire field at Troy's last event, fired a 4-over 76 in the opening round before coming back to shoot 1-over with five birdies in the afternoon session. She was efficient on both the par 3s (+1) and par 4s (+4) on the day to sit tied for sixth.
Just like Troy saw in its opening tournament of the spring last week, the average score across the course was high, with the field of 62 golfers playing Monday's 36 holes to a mark of 79.05 on the 6,002-yard course.
ShaeLee Scarberry and Alyssa Mercado are tied for 19th place after shooting 12-over on the day. Scarberry carded a 4-over 76 in the first round with one birdie on her card before shooting 8-over in the second round. Mercado, who is playing as an individual, carded two birdies (both on No. 18) and shot 6-over in both her attempts Monday.
Western Kentucky holds a 6-shot advantage over Eastern Kentucky at the top of the leaderboard heading into Tuesday's final trip through the course.
Elisabeth Preus is two shots back of Scarberry and Mercado in a tie for 27th place at 14-over following consecutive rounds of 79, while Elizabeth Caldarelli is tied for 33rd place at 16-over and Anna Claire Little is tied for 42nd place at 18-over par. Preus was one of the steadiest players on the course with 24 pars across her 36 holes, the second-most in the field.
