Troy Women's Tennis Splits Its Weekend Against the A&Ms

TROY, Ala. - Claiming its first victory of the season on Wednesday against Alabama State, 5-2, Troy splits the weekend on the road and at home to battle two A&M rosters.Â

The Trojans (1-2) start the weekend on the road to face the Rattlers of Florida A&M on Saturday (12 p.m.) at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex before coming home to Lunsford Tennis Complex to battle Alabama A&M (1:30 p.m.).

In the Win Column
The Trojans started the contest against the Hornets on fire, seizing the match on four-straight points to open the day.Â

Chiara Dabrano / Franziska Ahrend ended their match early at 6-1 before Andrea Widing / Anastasiia Khokhlova notched the match's first point on a 6-3 victory to put the Trojans up 1-0.

Kristina Kukaras (6-0, 6-1), Michelle Ncube (6-1, 6-4) and Hagar Amin (6-1, 6-3) all dominated their singles matches, with Amin putting Troy into the win column early, 4-0.

The final three points favored the Hornets, seizing 2-of-3, but it was too little, too late as Franziska Ahrend iced the matched, giving the Trojans their fifth point, 5-1, in her victory (6-3, 6-2) over Timothee Legaud.
