Troy Defeats Florida A&M For Second-Straight Victory

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Leading 3-0 to open the match, Troy starts a winning streak over Florida A&M, winning big at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex, 6-1.

The Trojans (2-2) move to .500, splitting their first four games for the third time in the last four seasons as the Rattlers (1-6) drop their sixth straight.

Three-Straight to Open
Troy opened the match strong as Andrea Widing / Anastasiia Khokhlova claimed the first doubles match, defeating Aylen Hubeaut / Sierra Sandy, 6-1.

Franziska Ahrend / Chiara Dabrano battled with Claudia Sumaia / Susan Salinas, defeating them 7-6, forcing an extra set.

Going down to the wire, Sumaia / Salinas took it to 11 sets before Ahrend / Debrano took the 12th to claim the point for doubles.

Ahrend carried her momentum into singles competition, swiftly defeating Salinas, 6-1 and 6-0 to capture the match's second point.

Amin brought the Trojans just one point away from clinching, 3-0, after beating Adrienne Clayton, 6-1 and 6-2, as Troy had victory in sight.

Clinching It
The Trojans found themselves up 3-0 after winning doubles competition and seizing the first two singles matches with Ahrend and Amin defeating their opposing Rattlers.

The Rattlers attempted the comeback, seizing their first point of the game after Aylen Hubeaut dominated Khokhlova in the first set, 6-1, before finishing her off, 6-4.

Olivia Elliott fired back for the Trojans against Sumaia, winning her first set, 6-1, before sweeping the second set, 6-0, to seize the fourth point of the game to secure the Trojan victory.
