San Diego State retaliated with an 11-0 run, opened by Lamont Butler at the 9:36 mark on a 3-point play with the dish from Matt Bradly, 47-42. The run continued until Aguek Arop drilled a second-chance 3-pointer to extend the Aztec lead to three, 50-47, with 6:37 remaining.
Despite Aamer Muhammad bringing the deficit to one, 50-49, with 4:10 left at the charity stripe, the Aztecs prevailed in the final minutes to survive the Trojans.
Back-To-Back Years
The Golden Eagles' last three games haven't gone the way TTU wanted, falling in each after being competitive throughout. Their most recent loss came to Butler, 80-66, after a 13-5 run by the Bulldogs in the final five minutes.
Ranked 311 in the most recent NET rankings, Tennessee Tech hopes for redemption from last season, where the Golden Eagles relinquished their first-half lead and allowed Troy to get enough comfort to survive the last few minutes.
