Troy shared the love offensively in the loss to UCLA, as four different players recorded at least 10 points in the outing against the Bruins. Makayia Hallmon and Tai'Sheka Porchia led the Troy effort with 14 points each, while Jada Walton continued her hot start to the season with a 13-point effort, and Mary Delgado notched her first double-digit effort with 12 points.
The Trojans have been a second-half team to start the season. The final period has been especially kind to Troy to begin the season as they have pounded out points in the final period. The Trojans tallied 29 points against UCLA, 31 in the second game of the season against UT Martin, and 21 in the season-opener against Samford.
The Trojans are the nation's best when it comes to forcing turnovers from their opponents. Troy has forced 40 turnovers through three games this season, and their average of 23.6 turnovers per contest leads the nation among teams with at least three games played in 2022. Guard Sharonica Hartsfield leads the team in steals this season with 10.
Senior guard Walton has been excellent this season for the Trojans. She is one of three players on the team (Hallmon and Porchia) to average at least 12 points a contest through the first three games of the season. Walton recorded a career-high 18 points against UT Martin and followed her historic performance with a 13-point effort against UCLA. Her seven rebounds against UT Martin were also a career-best, and the Lithonia, Georgia native is averaging 4.3 boards per contest.
San Francisco is only a few years removed from a postseason appearance, and despite UCLA being behind the Trojans, the schedule does not get any easier for Troy. After the meeting against USF, Troy will hop across the Pacific Ocean to play two games in Oahu, Hawaii. The Trojans will take on BYU and Washington state before wrapping up the seven-game road trip with a meeting against Arkansas.
