Chanda Rigby Officially Inducted into the Pensacola State Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026

TROY, Ala. – The winningest Troy women's basketball head coach, Chanda Rigby, officially joined the Pensacola State Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026 on Thursday for her historic seven-year tenure (2005-12) that included a pair of NJCAA Tournament Final Four appearances, Panhandle Conference titles and FCSAA Coach of the Year Awards.
"One of the greatest honors of my life was being inducted into the Pensacola State College Athletics Hall of Fame," Rigby said. "Pensacola State and the people there mean so much to me. The experience and opportunities I gained from being there opened the door to so much possibility, including springboard me to my position at Troy."
Already a member of the Florida College System Activities Association Sports Hall of Fame in the Class of 2024, Rigby coached at Pensacola State from 2005 to 2012. While a Pirate, she compiled four straight 20-plus-win seasons from 2008-12 for a 142-63 record, including a near-perfect 34-1 record in 2010-11. She transformed Pensacola State from a nine-win team in her first season (2005-06) to a 20-plus-win team in 2008-09 and earned 24 wins the following season with a berth in the FCSAA Tournament.
Rigby continued her winning formula by peaking from 2010-12, leading the Pirates to their first FCSAA Championship in 26 years in the 2010-11 season with a 35-1 record and an NJCAA Tournament Final Four appearance. That season, the team won 34 consecutive games and won the Panhandle Conference title after a perfect 12-0 league record. She followed with another pair of titles in 2012, going 29-4, and repeated with a NJCAA Tournament Final Four appearance.
During her two historic seasons, she earned two Panhandle and FCSAA Coach of the Year awards with 64 combined wins. In her tenure, she produced four All-FCSAA performers and four NJCAA / WBCA All-Americans.
She left Pensacola State for Troy before the 2012-13 season, where she's amassed a 280-165, 174-75 SBC record in her 14 seasons. She's brought the Trojans to three Sun Belt Tournament titles and three regular-season titles for a trio of NCAA Tournament appearances. After the 2025-26 season, Rigby's had nine postseason appearances in four different tournaments, 10 seasons with 20-plus wins and 12 consecutive seasons with a top-four finish in the regular season. Against Louisiana, Rigby surpassed Joyce Sorrell as the winningest coach in program history, earning her 275th career win as a Trojan.
She's also coached 27 All-Sun Belt honorees (10 first-team selections), a Mid-Major All-American and five individual awards, including a pair of Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards and the Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2020-21(Alexus Dye). Rigby earned Sun Belt Coach of the Year in 2020-21 after a 22-6 season with the tournament title and Sun Belt East Division championship.
