TROY, Ala. – Lead by Gaby Cossette, Julianne Hester, Taytum Terrell, Jocelyn Garcia, Jordan Stack and Lisa Blankestein, Troy concludes its home schedule in a must-win match against ULM as the team celebrates senior day at the Troy Soccer Complex at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Trojans (3-8-3, 1-5-2 SBC) sit last in the west division at five points, needing a win over the Warhawks (10-5-2, 2-5-1 SBC), who sit in the final tournament spot with seven points – win guarantees three points.
Troubling Five Minutes
Sunday marked a virtual must-win for Troy against Louisiana as both teams entered in a four-way tie for the final tournament spot.
After finding itself down 1-0 early, Ella Owen netted her first goal of the season off a picturesque corner kick from Gabrielle Chartier in the 18th minute to tie the match, 1-1. Troy dominated the rest of the first half, leading the Ragin' Cajuns in shots, 8-3 after the first 45 minutes.
The second half saw Louisiana come out with a purpose offensively. After three unsuccessful shot attempts, Alyssa Abbott punched the game-winning goal, 2-1, at the 51:16 mark. Then, just five minutes later, Ruthny Mathurin hit her second goal of the game to put the match out of reach, 3-1.

Troy leads the series 11-6-1.
The Trojans have been dominant in the series history over ULM, which includes winning eight of the last 10 matches by a combined score of 21-6. However, ULM got the last laugh a year ago in the Sun Belt tournament when Zerva Theoni succeeded in her penalty kick opportunity in the 37th minute to send Troy home, 1-0.
ULM enters Sunday needing a victory to clinch a spot in the Sun Belt tournament. The Warhawks look to turn the momentum around after losing to Georgia Southern and Louisiana in back-to-back shutouts. Inge Konst is the player to watch for the Warhawks after scoring a team-high seven goals, with Ashley Washburn close behind at five.
