TROY, Ala. – Having not trailed all night, the Trojans cruised past the ULM Warhawks for their sixth straight win of the season after earning the sweep (25-26, 25-18, 25-21) Friday night from Trojan Arena.
With the win, the Trojans match their longest win streak since 2020, and the sweep gives them their fifth of the season.
"A very solid team win tonight," head coach Josh Lauer said. "Offensively, I thought we did a very nice job of making smart plays, and defensively, our effort stayed consistent all night. Our focus now is to stay dialed in and ready to compete again tomorrow."
Troy (13-8, 7-2) was in rhythm all night long as they hit .324 as a team, with Tori Hester recording a math high of 16 kills and 10 digs. The double-double for Hester now gives her 10 on the season, and she is the only Trojan to see double-digit double-doubles this year.
Amiah Butler finished with 12 kills as Amara Anderson added to her Troy all-time career assist record with 39 assists on the night, which was more than the entire ULM team combined.
It was a rough night for the Warhawks (7-17, 0-9) as they hit .104, with Madeline Williams leading the team with only seven kills. ULM only saw four times in the entire match, with two coming in both the first and third sets.
Set One: After a 2-2 tie Troy rattled off six straight points and never looked back. That lead grew to nine late in the set-in part to six attack errors by the visitors, where Troy only committed three. Troy hit .579 compared to .095 by ULM as Julia Brooks finished the set off with her third kill to give Troy the advantage.
Set Two: Despite a match low .250 hitting percentage in the set for the Trojans, Troy once again handled business with Butler and Hester leading the charge. The Trojans totaled 14 kills in the set, and Anderson assisted on all 14. The last three Trojan points came in part to Attack errors by ULM as Troy went up two sets.
Set Three: ULM was determined to send the match to a fourth set as they were down one point late in the set at 20-19. Three straight kills from Troy, including back-to-back from Hester and one from Brooks, gave Troy the separation they needed to get the sweep. Troy totaled 17 kills, the most in any of the three sets, with Hester seeing seven fall her way.
Up Next: The Trojans will go for seven straight wins tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. as they play ULM once again to close out the season series.
