Troy, Louisiana Battle to Leapfrog Four-Way Conference Tiebreaker

TROY, Ala. – With just three matches remaining in the regular season, Troy women's soccer hopes to leapfrog the conference competition with a match at the Home Bank Soccer Facility on Thursday against Louisiana at 7 p.m.
The Trojans (3-7-3, 1-4-2 SBC) currently sit in a four-way tiebreaker with Marshall, Southern Miss and Thursday's opponent Louisiana (2-7-5, 1-4-2 SBC).
Fumbled the Match
Troy opened the match against Texas State in dominating fashion, outshooting the Bobcats 8-2 in the first 45 minutes. Jayla Gage broke the silence to give Troy the 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute after Jocelyn Garcia nailed a deep free kick for the breakaway.
Once the second half began, the tides changed in favor of Texas State as they applied the pressure throughout with nine shots to Troy's three shots.
The Bobcats finally broke through in the 83rd minute as Kiera Gonzales got the fortunate bounce to tie the match 1-1. Four minutes later, Wimberly Wright knocked in the game-winning goal to complete the comeback for Texas State, 2-1.
