Women’s Tennis Run Ends on Day Three of ITA Southern Regional

BATON ROUGE, La. – After an impressive two-day run that saw a trio of Trojans advance to the singles round of 32, Troy's time at the ITA Southern Regional ends on Saturday afternoon in the LSU Tennis Complex.
Kristina Kukaras, Hagar Amin and Maria Guirguis battled through the round of 64 for their first career round of 32 appearances, improving on last year's results which saw only one Trojan advance in Michelle Ncube.
Amin defeated Mississippi State's Emily Surcey and North Alabama's Valleria San Miguel to advance and face Louisiana State's Safiya Carrington. The freshmen struggled, getting swept in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Next, Kukaras faced off against Alabama's Loudmilla Bencheikh after beating Maria Rizzolo in the round of 64. Kukaras stayed strong but fell 6-2 in both sets to end her run.
Guirguis was the final Trojan remaining, winning over Alyssa Hayduk in the round of 64 to face Jacksonville State's Serafima Shastova. The Egypt native found herself down in the first set 6-3 before ending Troy's regional run 6-3 in the second.

From One SEC School to Another
After an impressive showing at the ITA Southern Regional, Troy returns to the state of Alabama to compete in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic from Oct. 28-29.
