Troy Prepped for Crucial Sun Belt Matchup with Texas State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Trojans and the Texas State Bobcats will square off in a crucial three-game conference series as the battle for the two and three spots in league standings commences on Friday at the Troy Softball Complex.

Game one of the series will kick off Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. start Saturday for game two. Troy seniors Katie Webb and Kynsley Rae Blasingame will be honored on Sunday prior to the 12 p.m. series finale.

Veteran Webb leads the Trojans' offense batting at a .377 mark with 13 doubles, five home runs and 30 RBIs. The first baseman ranks inside the top-10 of Troy's career records in hits, walks, RBIs and games played.

Leanna Johnson (18-5) leads the Troy (32-10, 15-3 Sun Belt) pitching staff bolstering a league-best 1.54 ERA over a team-leading 141.0 innings of work. The righty has fanned a conference-high 205 batters and pinned opponents to a .162 batting average, also the best mark in the league.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS:
Texas State (31-9, 12-5 Sun Belt) heads into Troy after downing Houston Baptist in a midweek tilt. Sara Vanderford leads the Bobcat offense batting at .397 with 15 doubles, nine home runs and 35 RBIs.

Jessica Mullins (16-6) spends the majority of time in the circle, recording a 1.78 ERA over 129.2 innings of work. The righty has also recorded 138 strikeouts over her 30 appearances.
