Women's Tennis Battles Arkansas State in Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team will make its 2021 Sun Belt Conference Tournament debut on Thursday when they take on Arkansas State. The match between the Trojans and Red Wolves is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will be played at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga. The entirety of the tournament will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Troy will enter the 2021 SBC Tournament as the No. 5 seed from the East Division while Arkansas State will be the No. 4 seed from the West Division. Troy earned the No. 5 seed after posting an overall record of 7-10 and an SBC record of 3-6 while Arkansas State earned the No. 4 seed with an overall record of 4-8 and an SBC record of 2-6. This will be the two programs first meeting since March 29, 2019, a match that Troy won by a score of 4-1.
The 2021 Sun Belt Conference Tournament will feature all 11 women's tennis programs and will be a single elimination event. Three matches will be played on Thursday (Troy vs Arkansas State, App State vs Texas State) and ILM vs Georgia State) with the quarterfinals being played on Friday. Top seeds South Alabama and UTA, as well as Coastal Carolina, Louisiana and Georgia Southern all earned first round byes.
The winner of Thursday's match will advance to the quarterfinals on Friday against the No. 1 seed from the East Division, South Alabama. Friday's match would start at 9 a.m. (CT).
