ESTERO, Fla. – Brent Hamm and Will McFadden shot under par in Tuesday's final round of the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate as Troy climbed a spot into ninth place. Hamm finished in eighth place, his fourth top 10 of the year, while McFadden moved into a tie for 25th position.
Hamm sank four birdies before making the turn Tuesday and finished his final round with five birdies overall. Starting on No. 10, Hamm birdied three of his first six holes before making the turn at 2-under par. He split a birdie and a bogey on the back nine for his ninth round under par this year and fourth in his last six rounds. He finished the week even par for his third tournament of the year at or under par.
McFadden's 1-under 71 was good enough for an 18-spot jump up the leaderboard as he carded five birdies on the day. It was his eighth round in the red this season and seventh of the spring. He made the turn even par following three birdies, a double and a bogey, but birdied No. 1 out of the turn and followed with eight straight pars.
Florida Gulf Coast led wire-to-wire and came away with a 24-shot victory over Jacksonville, while Jacksonville State was 36 shots back in third.
Reagan Harrell closed up his week with a 6-over 78 to leave his overall card at 11-over 227 for the week, his best finish of the spring. Playing as an individual, George Burch has solid bookend rounds as he shot 2-over today after an opening round 74, his final standing was altered by an 82 in the second round and he tied for 42nd place. Nicklas Borrmann finished in 58th place at 20-over and Ryan Morrison placed 67th at 24-over par.
Next up for the Trojans is the Sun Belt Conference Championship at the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark., April 25-28.
