Men’s Golf Continues Spring at The Golden Nugget Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Coming off its spring opener at a familiar spot, the Troy men's golf team ventures to a new location this week as the Trojans take part in the Golden Nugget Invitational, hosted by Lamar at The Country Club at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, La.
The Trojans finished 11th in the spring opener two weeks ago, and head coach Clay Bounds is shaking up his lineup for the trip to Louisiana, adding both Pierce Becker and Landon Noble into his top five. Noble started all four events in the fall, and Becker played twice during the fall season, but as an individual in both tournaments.
Grant Yerger and Lee Poppell carded the Trojans' only under-par rounds of the Border Olympics last time out, each shooting a 1-under 70, but will look to take advantage of just the 7,000-yard, par-72 course at The Golden Nugget.
Pablo Gracia is still under-par for the year, entering this week's event with a -0.71 score vs. par and a team-leading eight rounds under-par for the year, while Poppell is close behind at 0.07 vs. par and seven rounds in the red.
Haston Emblom and Thomas Crane will compete as individuals at the event for the Trojans. Emblom has just three collegiate rounds under his belt, while Crane had been in the lineup for Bounds in each of the five previous events.
Troy's starting five will open Monday morning on holes six thru nine, beginning at 8:45 a.m. in the shotgun start, along with golfers from ULM and Lamar.
