Women's Tennis Defeats FAMU on Saturday

TROY, Ala. – Playing in their second home match in as many days, the Troy women's tennis team got back into the win column on Saturday with an impressive 6-1 victory over Florida A&M at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The win moves Troy to 3-5 on the year and drops FAMU to 0-4.
Thanks to Florida A&M leaving court three empty, Troy earned the doubles victory with just one win which came on court one from the pair of Anastasiia Khokhlova and Anastasiia Khrustaleva, 6-3.
Similar to doubles, FAMU played a player down so Troy quickly jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead thanks to the forfeit on court six. Needing just two points to clinch the match, Troy earned its third win of the afternoon on court one by Matea Mihaljevic, 6-1, 6-0. The Rattlers picked up a win on court four before the match was finally clinched for the Trojans on court five by Khrustaleva with a 6-1, 6-2 decision. Troy rounded out the night with a win on court two from Khokhlova and on court three by Michelle Ncube to close out the match with a 6-1 victory.
Troy will be back at home once again on Monday when they host Jacksonville State at 1 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
