Troy Runners Shine at Final Day of Tiger Classic

AUBURN, Ala. -- After turning in strong performances in the field and distance events, it was Troy's runners that were on full display Saturday afternoon at the second and final day of the Tiger Classic that was held on the campus of Auburn University.
The 14-team meet which concluded Saturday, featured schools competitors from Auburn, Alabama, Alabama State, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, MTSU, Ole Miss, South Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, UAB and Vanderbilt.
Led by Matthew Likely, Gemma Finch and Jasmine Riley, the Troy runners combined for five top-five finishes.
Finch started the day off with a bang for the Trojans finishing first in the 800m (2:07.67). Her time was a personal best and was the sixth fastest time in the 800m in the country thus far.
Other highlights for the Trojan women included Riley finishing eighth (11.82) and sixth (24.22) in the 100m and 200m respectively.
On the men's side highlights included jump specialist Titus Sizemore finishing second (2.05m) in high jump, Likely finishing fourth in the 100m (10.51) and third in the 200m (21.16) and Alex Grays finish fifth (21.30) in the 200m.
Troy returns to action next at the South Florida Invite (Apr. 2-3) hosted by the University of South Florida.
