TROY, Ala. -- After taking last weekend off, the Troy track and field program returns to action Friday and Saturday when they head to Tampa for the South Florida Invite.
The two-day event will be hosted by the University of South Florida and begins Friday with the men's hammer trials and continues with the rest of the field events beginning at 11 a.m. central. Live stats will be available on Half Mile Timing
Day one concludes with the men's track events beginning with the men's 300m steeplechase before the action continues with the distance, sprints and relays.
Saturday belongs to the women, as the women's field events are scheduled to kickoff day two at 10 a.m. CT. After the discus concludes the field events, the action shifts the track, where the women's 3000m steeplechase is set to begin at around 3 p.m. central.
The Trojans have had an extremely strong start to the spring season led by senior Gemma Finch, Michael Alvernaz and Titus Sizemore. A thrower, Alvernaz's score of 65.75m is a top-15 score in the country thus far.
Finch's personal-best time in the 800m at the Tiger Classic is the 20th-best time in the country thus far, while Sizemore's 2.09m mark is the 32nd-best mark in the country this season.
Following this weekend's meet at South Florida, the Trojans will return to action next weekend at the Crimson Tide Invite hosted by the University of Alabama. The three-day event begins next Thursday (April 8) and goes through next Saturday (April 10).
