Scarberry Leads Troy on Day One of Spring Break Classic

DADE CITY, Fla. – Troy rebounded from a rocky start to Monday's opening round of the Spring Break Shootout to finish the day in a tie for sixth place following 36 holes at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.

The Trojans found themselves 9-over par as a team after just the first four holes of the day among the four counting scores at the time, from that point on Troy's four counters shot just 6-over as the Trojans shot 15-over for the opening round.

ShaeLee Scarberry had the biggest rebound of the opening round after she sat 7-over par with two bogeys, a double and a triple after four holes. She made the turn with a 7-over on her card before a flurry of birdies in her final nine holes pulled her card back down to 3-over. Scarberry continued her hot hand in the afternoon session with six more birdies en route to a 2-under 69. Her 11 birdies are tied for the most in the field and she is in seventh place overall at 1-over.

Nicole Lorup is tied for 24^th place at 6-over for the day following a 5-over 76 in the opening round and a 1-over 72 in the second round. Elisabeth Preus matched her teammate's 148 for the day with rounds of 73 and 75, while Elizabeth Caldarelli is 10-over and tied for 48^th place.

No. 42 North Florida and Western Kentucky are tied at 2-over for the team lead while Seminole State is a shot back in third place. Troy is four shots back of Ball State for fifth place and eight behind fourth-place Florida Gulf Coast.

Anna Claire Little is tied for 51^st place at 11-over and Brooklyn Bostick, who is competing as an individual is in 80^th place at 23-over.
