Troy, Scarberry Climb on Final Day of Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. – Troy posted the second-lowest tally of Tuesday's final round of the Spring Break Shootout on the par-71 Lake Jovita South Course. The Trojans moved up a spot into fifth place while ShaeLee Scarberry climbed three spots into a tie for fourth individually.
The Trojans carded 11 birdies among their five players in the lineup during Tuesday's final round including five from Elisabeth Preus as she shot even par for the day. Troy finished with 38 birdies as a team for the event, good for fifth in the field, while Scarberry and Preus tied for fifth individually with 12.
Scarberry shot 1-over on the day with a relatively calm round. After opening with a bogey, she birdied the par-5 11th four holes later and then bogeyed the par-4 16th before shooting par the rest of the way.
Preus opened strong with birdies on three of her first four holes before a pair of bogeys pushed her to 1-under at the turn. She got back to 2-under with a birdie on the second, but she doubled No. 3 and bogeyed No. 5 to shoot to 1-over. Preus saved her round with a birdie on the par-3 seventh to close out her day.
No. 42 North Florida won the team title by six shots over Seminole State while Western Kentucky was 13 shots back in third. Troy finished just one shot behind Florida Gulf Coast for fourth.
Nicole Lorup slipped into 31st place after shooting 4-over on Tuesday to move to 10-over for the week, while Anna Claire Little fired her best round of the week with an even par 71 thanks to three birdies to move into a tie for 32nd place. Elizabeth Caldarelli tied for 51st place overall and playing as an individual Brooklyn Bostick tied for 82nd.
Troy is off until April 5-6 when it will compete in the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga., in its final tune up before the Sun Belt Championship.
