Men's Tennis wins ninth straight with victory at Southern Miss

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis teamed extend its winning streak to nine matches on Sunday with a road victory over Southern Miss, 6-1. The victory is Troy's seventh away from the Lunsford Tennis Complex and their 15th on the season.

The Trojans continued to play incredible tennis, winning their ninth straight match and improving to 15-1 on the year. Troy started out Sunday with a strong doubles performance, winning the crucial point thanks to a win on court three by Carles Anton and Amer Bedwan and on court one by the pair of Nicolas Simkin and Christopher Tasker.

With the all-important doubles point won, Troy turned its attention to singles where the moment from doubles carried over. The Trojans extended their lead with a court two victory from Manuel Bernard followed by a straight sets win on court six by Tasker. The match was clinched by Simkin on court five with a strong 6-4, 6-4 win. With match already in hand, Troy earned their fifth and sixth victories of the afternoon by Anton and Bedwan.

Troy will be back in action on Saturday, March 20 at noon when they travel to Thibodaux, La. to take on Nicholls State.
