THE WEEK THAT WAS (TROY- 9-9, 3-5): The Troy Trojans enter this weekend's matchup having won three straight games overall and riding a six-game home winning streak. The streak grew to three after Tuesday's 90-73 victory over Spring Hill College. In that contest senior Nick Stampley contributed 17 points, while Zay Williams contributed 17 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore Desmond Williams contributed 15 points on efficient 5-of-10 shooting. The streak began with last weekends sweep against Appalachian State that clinched Troy the season series. In Friday's 71-62 wire-to-wire victory, the Trojans held the Mountaineers to just 2-of-19 shooting from deep including just 1-for-12 in the second period of action. In the victory, the Trojans used a pair of career best performances from Nick Stampley and Duke Miles. Stampley scored 23 points (a new career best) and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Miles scored 17 points and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. On Saturday, the Trojans received another strong outing from Stampley (19 points, 7 rebounds) and Kam Woods (12 points, 6 assists). Woods' six assists were a new career-best.
THE WEEK THAT WAS (Georgia Southern- 11-8, 5-5): The Georgia Southern Eagles head to Trojan Arena this weekend after splitting a weekend series with first-place Coastal Carolina. After dropping a nationally-televised ESPN2 contest on Friday against the Chants, the Eagles rebounded last Saturday to earn the weekend split. In the Friday contest, guard Eric Boone exploded for 17 second-half points and Elijah McCadden added 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists. After allowing a 19-1 run to close the first half of play and trailing 38-25 at the break, the Eagles were able to come within 47-40 with 13:28 left, but the Chants used a 15-4 run to take a 62-44 lead. The Eagles made one last 10-0 run to get to within 10 (70-60) with 3:57 to play, but Coastal held the Georgia Southern attack to just one field goal the rest of the way. On Saturday it was McCadden who stepped up for the Eagles, hitting a pair of triples in the final 28 seconds of play. The first 3-pointer gave GaSo a 58-55 lead with 28.8 to play, and the final dagger with 0.8 seconds left gave the Eagles a key 61-58 victory. After leading 29-18 at the break and 51-41 with 7:45 remaining, Coastal Carolina used 12-2 run to tie the contest at 53 with three minutes to play. Georgia Southern took a brief 55-53 lead, but four offensive rebounds and a dunk tied the contest at 55. McCadden's first triple with 28.8 left gave the home side the lead, but a Devante' Jones triple tied the contest at 58. On the ensuing possession McCadden hit the shot 0.8 to give the Eagles the big victory. Three Eagles are averaging at least 10 points a game this season led by UAB transfer Zack Bryant (13.8). Boone and McCadden are averaging 11.2 and 10.2 points respectively.
STORYLINES:
LOOKING FOR WIN NUMBER 10
With a victory this weekend, the Trojans can surpass last season's win total just 19 games into the season. Troy went 9-22 a season ago. With a pair of victories this weekend, Troy can tie its 2019-20 Sun Belt win total (5).
HOME COOKIN'

On Tuesday night the Trojans dropped Spring Hill College 90-73 to start 6-0 at home for the first time in D-I history.
LET'S GO ON A RUN
With a victory Friday over Georgia Southern the Trojans could record their third consecutive Sun Belt Conference victory. The three-game SBC winning streak would be Troy's longest since the 2017-18 season when Troy won four straight over South Alabama, Arkansas State, Little Rock and Coastal. A victory would also be Troy's fourth straight, and would be Troy's first four-game winning streak since Dec. 12-29 of the 2018-19 season.
LOOKING FOR REVENGE
The Trojans have dropped the last eight matchups to Georgia Southern including the previous two matchups last month. Senior Nick Stampley was knocked out of the opening minutes of the Friday matchup after seeing one of his teeth knocked out. Stampley missed the final 40 minutes of the Friday matchup and did not play on Saturday.
INTO THE WOODS
Freshman Kam Woods has been sensational so far this season. The Bessemer, Ala. product currently leads the 2020-21 Trojans roster in points (12.1), 3-pointers made (27) and total points scored (206). Troy is 8-1 this season when holding an opponent to six or fewer triples. After dropping a contest at UAB in the first instance, the Trojans have won eight straight games when holding a team to six or fewer triples. The Trojans are also 6-0 when holding an opponent to fewer than 30 percent shooting from deep.

His 90.5 percent mark is currently ranked 8th in the entire NCAA (min. 50 attempts) and leads the SBC. Waters has recorded at least 20 points twice this season. Waters scored a career-best 21 against Samford on Dec. 16.
DEFENSE HAS LED TO WINS
The Trojans were 7-1 last season when they held teams to 65 points or fewer. Troy's lone loss when holding a team below that mark was at Texas A&M (56-52, loss). The Trojans were also 8-1 last season when holding an opponent to less than 40 percent shooting. Troy's win over Samford is the first time that Troy won when a team shot better than 40 percent from the field and scored more than 65 (1-3). So far this season Troy is 7-1 when holding a team below 65 points and 7-1 when holding teams to 40 percent shooting or less.
