Men's Tennis Extends Win Streak to Six With Win at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Troy men's tennis teamed earned its sixth consecutive won on Friday with a 4-3 victory over Chattanooga. On top of it being their sixth straight win, it was also Troy's fifth straight win away from Troy.

Troy (12-1), off to its best start since the 2018-19 season when they started 14-1, was in a fight from the get go after losing the doubles point to the Mocs. Trailing by one entering singles, the Trojans got their first point of the evening on court six with a big come-from-behind win by Christopher Takser who won sets two and three to even the match at one all.

After they evened up the match at one, Troy extended its lead with two more victories, both going the full three sets. The second victory of the day came on court five by Nicolas Simkin who, like Tasker, had to battle back after dropping the first set. On court one Carles Anton earned a three sets win, however he had to overcome a second set loss to earn the win and the team point.

After falling on court two, Troy earned the match clinching point on court three when senior Amer Bedwan continued the trend of winning in the third set to earn the point. Bedwan's three set win clinched the match for Troy to give them the 4-2 advantage. With the match in hand for Troy, Chattanooga was able to earn a third point with a win on four.

Troy will be off until next Friday when they travel to Hunstville, Ala. to take on Alabama A&M. Theit next home match will be on Monday, March 8 against Jacksonville State.
